Mechanical Reasoning Test

Audience and Use
The Mechanical Reasoning Test assesses multiple aspects of mechanical comprehension and reasoning. It is designed for those who have a High School diploma, or up to two years of Vocational or Technical training after High School. Its primary use is in selecting people for roles requiring work with tools, machines and parts, such as:
- Technicians & Production Operators
- Maintenance & Repair Workers
- Construction & Extraction Workers
This test helps you:
- Identify candidates who understand mechanical principles and basic laws of physics.
- Predict candidates’ potential for success in roles requiring mechanical reasoning.
- Identify individuals who have the capacity to quickly learn mechanical principles.
Time Requirements and Administration
The Mechanical Reasoning Test takes 20 minutes to complete and can be administered in either paper and pencil or over the Internet. If the test is taken on-line, the reports are generated immediately and emailed to the administrator within minutes of completion. Each candidate’s results are presented in terms of his/her percentile standing with respect to the norm group.
