(Biodata Inventory)

Audience and Use

The Assessment Profile Inventory (API) is a biographical data—or biodata—questionnaire that assesses prior work-related experience, preferences, and work styles that are relevant for a target job or occupation.  It is typically used  for Employee Selection.

The API is designed to assess information that can be verified by gathering background information on the individual.  This may be obtained through school or resume information, or the pre-employment interview.  Consequently, it is difficult for applicants to distort this information.

What it Measures

  • Previous Life Experiences
  • School Success
  • Work History
  • Work Preferences
  • Accomplishments
  • Work Styles
  • Work Engagement

Key Features

The API has these key features:

  • Easy to Complete.  Items are based on prior history and experiences, so takers do not have to spend much time on a single item.
  • Appropriate for a Diverse Range of Individuals.  The questionnaire may be effectively administered to a wide range of individuals from students through highly seasoned professionals.
  • Predictive.  Concurrent validation studies are used to identify its validity for specific organizations.
  • Profile Report.  An easy-to-interpret Profile Report displays the individual’s scores.

API Reports/Results

The API may be administered in either of two modalities:

1) Internet-based administration and scoring
2) Paper-and-pencil administration and scoring.

Reports and results are provided in a graphical and narrative form.
